Kenyan School Fund Bike Ride

ksf_bike_ride_200At around lunchtime on Tuesday 28th October we completed our 6,510 miles challenge. We were delighted to have got there with 3 days to spare.

For the last few days of the month staff continued to cycle to achieve personal targets and milestones. In all 75 staff completed at least 50 personal miles and by so doing secured a £50 donation from the company – the average miles per person was actually 110.

As can be seen from the photos and video we did the miles in any way we could.

We received some fabulous support and donations and in the end raised over £9,000.

What we did

It is 6,510 miles from our Ipswich office to Nyiera on the shores of Lake Victoria. During October staff from Pound Gates and Sevatas cycled the distance (and a little bit more) to raise money for Kenyan School Fund.

We are seeking to build a new school in this very deprived area near Kisumu city. The money raised from this event is a large chunk of the funds required to build the first phase of the school. The businesses sponsored participating staff and we also received lots of external sponsorship as well.
